I was really disappointed with the board. It wasn’t cut evenly on each side, it’s no where near symmetrical. There are ridges on the bottom that catch, making it ineffective for sand sliding, and the bottom is only coated in a cheap wood varnish which scratches and flakes away ridiculously easily. I actually had to sand the whole bottom down to get rid of the original coating and ridges, and put two good coats of surfboard resin on it to make it reasonably functional.

I bought it new, and it still came with chips along the edges and a flaking paint job that looks like it was done by a leaking silk screen.

Fork over a few extra bucks and get a nicer board, you’ll end up paying more to make this one usable anyway.

Catch Surf Beater Board? Advice from surfers please!?
I have decided to buy the Catch Surf Original 54 Beater. I just want to know the some of the pro’s and con’s of the finless and the single fin. I’m going to try crazy stuff on this board. Im going to take it in every condition imaginable, from salt water Skimboard surfer Slide to fresh water to frozen water. Im going to skimboard on it alot because i cant get to waves easily. Im buying this board because when i do have the chance to get to waves they are unsurfable by conventional boards. My main concern it that if i skimboard on the single fin (with the fin removed of course) it will get damaged around the holes for the fin. Will it be a problem? how much does the fin actually effect the ride? any advice appreciated. thanks.I have alot of skimboards already and a surfboard. I just want this board so i have more variety, im obviously going to surf on it as well as skim.
