The good news. Item fits thule, OEM or any other roof rack according to its box which is nice in case you have another vehicle w/out a thule rack. Keeps board secure in cradle.
The bad news: The straps WHISTLE when on the top of the board. And the plastic hooks into the feet don’t feel as stable as the rubber straps in the previous model. I’ll be sending these back pronto.

looking for a someone who studies psychology to help give advice on a story about a girl with hydrophobia?
this is the story please tell me if the is realistic. the girl in my story was dropped in a pool by her jealous step father when she was 2 and since then had a fear being submerged in water because deep water always triggered flashbacks of the time she nearly died, however she could take a shower, be by shallow water,stand in puddles, and stand by the ocean as long as the water never went past her ankles. she was terrified of deep water but she loved to surf because by surfing she was in control if she was careful and didn’t wipe out she didn’t have to put her whole body in the water let me give you a sample of the story and it always calmed her when she was stressed (Kay stood by the ocean staring out the waves crashing against the shore with her trusty surfboard in her hands and her beloved wolf dog at her side she took a deep breath to steel herself and walked deeper into the waves leaving her faithful companion on the beach already she could feel the anxiety rising memories best left forgotten coming to surface shaking her head she took a deep breath and reminded herself that she was in control this time ‘I can do this’ she told herself as she did many a times before walking deeper past her comfort zone the water reached her waist clutching the board with surfboard Shower Curtain Hooks white knuckled hands she heart pounding she place the board in the water the familiarity of the action calming her. Slowly she got on the board with practiced ease memories of the past still riding her once more threatening to over take her begging for attention telling her how easy it would be to run back to shore where her dog was it would be safe to curl up in the sand and never face this fear again and as she did time and time again she paddled faster farther away from the safety and security of the shore and her four legged friend suddenly a huge wave came barreling towards her again she had a choice ride the wave or let the fear ride her and again she chose same as she always did smiling to herself “Perfect.” she whispered to her self as she began to ride the wave the moment her feat hit the board everything vanished no fear, no memories only pure adrenaline with the only thing between her and the water is her beloved board closing her eyes she imagined that she was flying smiling as she inhaled the smell of salt water listened to the sound of the waves never has she had this much freedom her no one could catch her she was free to move as she please but she wasn’t stupid she knew should she fall off the safety of the board, should she fall off her board even if the water is just up to her waist all the memories would come rushing back her to freeze, fear would override every instinct nothing but her and the past possibly causing her to drown with no one but her dog to save her she shook her head and continued up the wave know from experience that as long as Mischief (her dog) was there she would be fine the dog was an amazing swimmer smiling to herself to paddled to the top standing on the board she closed her eyes and laughing to her self this was her element this was the one time in her life she had control as long as she stayed on the board she was fine as long as she didn’t wipe out with one last swerve of the board she made it to the shore just as she thought the moment she stepped off the board her phobia came rushing back gasping softly as the memories assaulted her once more she froze only the gentle kisses form her companion bringing back to the present shaking her head she walked out of the water not before a whispered thanks to her four legged friend “Come on Mischief we still have work tomorrow.” she told her friend as they left the beach) sorry for the long description just wanted to explain that though she has this phobia she uses surfing as a way to get around in since she’s not necessarily in the water she’s on the board plus its not the water itself that scares her it being submerged in it. is it possible in the scenario I just subscribed?So if not hydro phobia should I call it a water anxiety?

Been using this rack in several different rented and borrowed cars while on vacation, and have no complaints. Looks kind of flimsy, but once snugged up, it helds my 9′ windsurf board securely, with no apparent slippage even at freeway speeds. No problems with roof denting, and the straps wrap tightly through the weatherstripping around the doors without leaving a permanent impression. For long-term use, get a real rack, but for occasional or short-term use, this is a great solution.

It seems that no surf rack manufacturer wants to list helpful information – such as dimensions – online, so I just had to order something and see how it worked. The directions that came with it were not much better. So what I don’t know is whether my 9×3 stand-up paddleboard is too wide to be compatible with these racks. I simply could not get them tight enough to hold my board down comfortably at highway speeds, and after stopping three times to tighten them, I ended up using a rope toward the front of the car for extra support. Maybe it’s because this is the first time I was using it, and the straps need to stretch out a bit. I don’t know. They’re fine up to about 35mph, but after that, it’s a scary ride. I do recommend putting the front rack as close to the front of the car as possible; that seems to stabilize it. But pull tight, and have a rope for backup!

I got this to use while my normal surf hauler was out of town. These work better than expected and really lock down the boards tighter than I thought they would. Easy to use and take on/off. Would definetely recommend.

A friend of mine already had this soft rack and after using his I decided to purchase my own. It’s perfect for one or two boards. We normally have two 8-footers on our mid-size sedan and it’s totally fine…even at 75mph on the freeway. Surf’s up.
