I bought these a few months back and I’m still using them without any problems or damage. Often the sun, salt water or rain will degrade the materials on an outdoor product like this, but I have not seen that start yet.I would give this five stars except that the pads, though extremely adjustable, do not get small enough to fit snuggly on my rack, which I thought was of a standard thickness. They are padded on only one edge so I have to try to rotate that edge up and keep it there as I tie my boards down.Although probably a problem with all hard rack pads, I must also report that the whole tie down, boards and padding will inch from one side of the car to the other while I offroad on bumpy sand.*Update*Reduced to 3 stars, because I purchased pacman-ish pads that work far better and “walk” very little off road. The straps are still great, but I’m not sure I’m even going to keep the pads that came with it. I haven’t seen anyone with any sort of rack that the pads would actually work for
