Product is nice and works well. But, it shipped without any of the screws, nuts or bolts required to assemble it. Just a note that said the required items would be sent later.I contact Amazon who volunteered to take the product back (which required me re-packing the item in boxes that were destroyed opening everything up). Their first alternative was to send me a new product. Then I could use the new boxes to ship back the old product. No one new if the replacement product would come with the required hardware. The did give me a discount for my trouble (I think). But 4 or 5 weeks later there are still isssues as they seem to think they sent the replacement item even though I request that it not be sent, multiple time.sSecond option was to contact the supplier. I contacted the supplier who quickly sent most but not all of the required hardware. I finally gave up and bought the remaining items from the local hardward.Overall, good product. It should never have shipped. Amazon staff tried

What is a good space to rent for working on projects?
I’m a guy who likes to build things. My house has no garage surfboard Storage Honolulu or basement or anything. I need a place to work on my car and to finish the surfboard that I am building. I thought of getting one of those Public storage places, but they can be kind of pricey. Any suggestions?

This must have been pretty easy to put together because my husband did it with my twelve year old daughter in under half an hour and I heard no swearing or gnashing of teeth. It easily holds our two recreational kayaks (an 11 ft Old Town Loon and a very heavy old 2+ sit on top Hobie). We are using it to store the kayaks off the ground and outside. My only concern about this product (and the reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5) is that it is not clear from any of the material on Amazon about this product (or anywhere else) whether it is recommended for outdoor use. We are using it outdoors, so I can probably update this after the winter and let people know. But, for the price and functionality, it was definitely worth the try.

Fairly priced from Amazon and well-made, this SpareHand rack will hold up to 4 kayaks, although it comes with hardware brackets for only two. If you have 3 or 4 kayaks, you can get extra brackets from Amazon. The SpareHand Malibu Plus Dual Rack does the job nicely if you have room in your garage or on a covered porch. Note: The literature says it is not for outdoor use and it appears it would rust, although it is is painted. You should not buy this for outdoor use, unless perhaps you live in Yuma or El Paso. Note that this model differs from several other SpareHand kayak racks in that the base has “legs” extending on 4 sides, where other racks extend only on 2 sides. I could find no other differences by inspecting advertisements on line. The printed assembly instructions are outrageously bad and completely unsatisfactory, but you can puzzle out assembling it without much trouble by looking at an advertisement picture. Assembly takes about half an hour. I am fully satisfied with my rack. It is sturdy, meets my needs and takes up minimal room.

I needed a decent storage solution for my Pungo 120. The wall space in my garage is already taken up by shelving & because I have young children I didn’t want to suspend anything that heavy in the garage overhead in case it fell. This rack was the perfect solution. The directions weren’t that great, but it was very simple to assemble anyway (about 20 min.). Since I only have one kayak I use the top brackets to hang my paddle, PFD, & other gear, though I believe it would hold a second kayak with no problem. The feet are adjustable so it can be leveled on an uneven surface. The only thing I wish it had was a set of locking casters so it could be easily moved around the garage. However, based on the design I believe a resourceful person could get a set of wheels at a local hardware store & install them easily, which is what I plan to do.

This product arrived without assembly instructions, but didn’t take long to assemble after reviewing an online picture–maybe an hour or so. It holds our 65 and 75 pound kayaks with no problem. I’ve seen other racks that cost double and hold less so we’re overall happy with our purchase and happy the kayaks are now off the garage floor.

Recieved my rack on Saturday 9/12/09 and tried to put it together. Things wer going great until I got to the cradles. Two of them had the clamps for the uprights built in. The other two it looks like the clamps are a seperate attachment, an attachment that was not included in the shipment. Being that it was a weekend I was unable to contact anybody about this problem although they did get back to me on the next workday. After quite some time I was able to get my point across that the clamps were missing and was told that they would be shipped as soon as possible. Looks like another ten days before I can either upgrade or lower my rating of this item. Hopefully it will be going up as over all I like what I see.

Excellent rack but I wish it would be a slightly larger to hold another board. So easy to install and easy to mount and remove the board. Thanks Thule.

These are amazing. Never had a problem. They stay secure and haven’t scratched my car yet

The straps are too short for my windsurf board. So I have to use an other strap.

I bought this surfboard holder in hopes of having a quick way to easily rack my board on the car. After using it about 20 times, the plastic clasps on the straps broke. But, I continued to use the rubber feet that hold the board with some standard surfboard straps. Unfortunately, these rubber feet don’t stay in place. Even with the screws cranked down tight, I can move the rubber feet with my hands (and I’m a girl, not some beefy guy!). I just don’t feel that my board is secure on this rack and have returned to a more traditional setup (foam roller pads on the bars with a standard surfboard strap).
