These tie-downs work well on a car without a rack. The car is protected, the board is protected and held well. I did one long trip with a board on the car, and now use them all the time for the short drive to the beach. I don’t cinch them down too tight on my son’s soft (foam) board, because the board gets indents, but this is due to the type of board, not any problem with the tie straps. These have kept me from having to buy a rack for the car, which I would have had to buy straps and pads for anyway.

Surfboard making question – balsa wood?
Where can I buy lots of big balsa surfboard Balsa wood to make surfboards somewhere nearby where I could just pick them up? I live in Orange County, California. I really appreciate it.
