These tie-downs work well on a car without a rack. The car is protected, the board is protected and held well. I did one long trip with a board on the car, and now use them all the time for the short drive to the beach. I don’t cinch them down too tight on my son’s soft (foam) board, because the board gets indents, but this is due to the type of board, not any problem with the tie straps. These have kept me from having to buy a rack for the car, which I would have had to buy straps and pads for anyway.

What is the best transitional surfboard?
I’m going to a pro surf camp in El Salvador in March with Shane Dorian. I started surfing in May, but I don’t surfboard Quilt Pattern own a surfboard, I used a foam long board but it was to big for me. I need to purchase a board or two before I go, but I have no idea what board to get. I’m 5′6″ and I don’t know what length board to get. All the research I’ve done says not to start on a short-board. Any suggestions or advice?
